Question Can I run with an Offset web or sheet-fed press?

Answer Yes, Breit Technologies has many options to run inline on most offset press lines, as well as offline options.

Question : Can I run inline on my Gravure press.

Answer     : Yes, it is possible to run Cast and Cure™ inline on a Gravure press. However, in most cases it seems to make more sense running Cast and Cure offline on a press designed to reregister on flexible packaging materials. In many cases, this offline process can be coupled with other offline processes such as slitting or laminating.

Question : Can I run Cast and Cure™ inline on my Flexo presses?

Answer     : Yes, Cast and Cure can be run on most flexo presses with varying degrees of success. In fact, you can simply run Cast and Cure using an existing Cold Foil web path and set-up. However, special care must be taken to ensure proper web path and tensions to ensure proper rewinding and subsequent reuse of the rewound film roll. Your goal should be 6 to 12 reuses of a single roll of Casting film. If your auxiliary rewind equipment or web path does not allow finished roll quality after being rewound, upgrade opportunities are available to help ensure your success. Question : How does Cast and Cure™ effect the recyclability of my product.

Answer     : Cast and Cure will not affect the current recyclability of your products.

Question : What creates the holographic effect?

Answer     : Cast and Cure™ micro-embossed substrates are designed to refract and bend light as light travels through the substrate coating. There are very specific angles and depths to the embossing area which is mechanically imbedded into the film. When the embossed side of the Casting film is laminated to a wet UV coating, the coating is forced into the shape of the mold – or casting film in this case. The mold is then set via an energy-curing source (UV, LED or EB). After curing the coating, the Casting film is removed from the primary web/sheet and rewound to be reused. The coating has now been molded into the exact mirror image of the mold or Casting film.

Question : What’s the shelf life of the Cast and Cure™ film?

Answer     : If stored in a clean, temperature-controlled environment, casting film will exceed 5 years shelf life.

Question : What varnish do I need to use to apply Cast and Cure™ patterns?

Answer     : Most Ink and coating manufacturers have ultra-clear coatings designed for Cast and Cure. You can also test your standard and/or existing coatings. Contact Breit Technologies for the basic testing criteria.

Question : Can I laminate over the Cast and Cure™ image?

Answer     : Cast and Cure is a “last down” application. If a laminate is to be used the Cast and Cure process will need to be applied to the top or face of the printable laminate.

Question : What’s the lead time on film orders?

Answer     : Casting films can be slit to size from 6” to 40” and ready to ship within 48 hours of your film order.

Answer     : Breit Technologies maintains more than 26 standard Cast and Cure^TM films in inventory.

Question : How many times can I use the film?

Answer     : With the correct equipment, customers are achieving 12 to 20 reuses. With standard Cold Foil equipment, the average reuse falls between 4 to 8 reuses.

Question : How is it possible to reuse the film over and over again?

Answer     : Compared to hot/cold foil, whereas foil is removed from its carrier web and adhered to the primary web/sheet via energy-cured coatings or heat with brass tooling. Nothing is every removed from the Cast and Cure web. Casting webs are micro embossed and act as a mold rather than a transfer. And, as with most molds, they can be used many times.
